Afghanistan- Senators ask govt to send HPC packing


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) (Pajhwok): After a bloodiest week, the Mesharano on Sunday said the (HPC) had been ineffective and should to be dissolved.

Senator Mohammad Afzal Shamel remarked since its inception, the HPC had played no significant role in bringing peace to the country.

He said the peace deal with the (HIA) was not an achievement of the HPC because the HIA spokesman had often said this.

He said: 'Millions of dollars are being embezzled in the HPC. An ordinary employee of the HPC is paid $800 salary, it would be good to shut down the failed institution and its budget diverted to security institutions.'

He asked the president to take a decision on the fate of HPC. He also said peace with was not possible because the country was thirsty of the Afghan blood.

Rahmatullah Achakzai, another lawmaker, said the HPC needed a complete overhaul. He said the considered government servants as their enemies.

Chairman Senate Fazal Hadi Muslimyar said it was mentioned in the holy that there was welfare in peace and nobody could deny that. He asked the government to put pressure on militants to join the reconciliation process.

He told HPC administration to review their past six months' performance and if the performance was effective, the body could continue its work otherwise it should not stop functioning.

HPC chairman Mohammad Karim Khalili has earlier acknowledged there had been flaws in the council's administration in the past, but things had also happened.

He has participation of every tribe in taking forward the peace process and called talks the only solution to the Afghanistan conflict.
