Facebook offers to assist in Russia investigation
(MENAFN) FB's Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg says the company is devoted to helping US congressional investigators to publicly release the political ads backed by Russia during last year's election.
Sandberg said in an interview: "Things happened on our platform in this election that should not have happened."
FB's CEO was the first to be interviewed, as the company revealed in September that it had found about 3,000 politically distributive ads, supposed to have been bought by Russia in the election period.
According to Sandberg, the company started hearing rumors in the time of the election last year of Russian efforts to use the social media network to spread propaganda, but didn't specify when the company started reviewing.
