Uzbekistan has launched the 'Mobile Library' project in Samarkand, said the Uzbek Press and Information Agency.
Now, at a number of bus and tram stops, passengers can scan a QR code and download books for free using their smartphones.
Passengers can get access to 200 books on the virtual shelf, according to the agency.
Besides, they can download audiobooks and fiction in the English language.
In total, around 20 virtual bookshelves were installed at Samarkand's bus and tram stops.
To scan a QR code, one needs to point a smartphone's or a tablet's camera at the code and scan it using a special app installed on the gadget. All 200 books are available in the mobile app.
