Amman, Oct. 9 (Petra) -- State Minister for Media Affairs and Communication Muhammad Momani on Monday met a delegation of US congressional aides and discussed with them U.S.-Jordanian ties and a number of Middle East issues.

The minister told the delegation that 7 years of turmoil in the Middle East and closure of borders with neighboring countries place enormous burdens on Jordan's economy, sent out a massive influx of Syrian refugees and pushed debt, budget deficit and employment higher.

The meeting tackled the crisis in Syria where the minister reiterated Jordan's support for finding a political solution that restores stability and security and safeguards its territorial integrity.

Speaking on counterterror efforts, the minister underscored cooperation with the U.S. in this domain and said Jordan will always remain at the forefront of those fighting terrorism and defending human values.

He also noted that the failure to resolve the Palestinian issue was used by terrorists to justify their agenda and find safe havens.
