Qatar- Ministry launches crackdown on abandoned vehicles

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment has launched a crackdown on abandoned cars, trucks, heavy machines and equipment for violating the provisions of law for maintaining cleanliness at public places.

More than 70 vehicles were detected at Al Rayan Municipality and they are being towed to the detention facility, said a release. The committee for removing abandoned vehicles at the Ministry also towed big number of abandoned vehicles from Ain Khalid and Al Rayyan Municipality.

The actions were taken under some provisions of the Law No. 8 of 1974 for regulating cleanliness at public places and the executive regulation issued by the Ministry's decision No. 5 of 1981. The crackdown was launched upon the request of Al Rayan Municipality, said the Ministry.

Meanwhile, the General Monitoring Department at Al Wakra Municipality also launched a campaign against abandoned cars, trucks, heavy equipment and machines across the municipality and Barwa Al Baraha known as Workers City or Barwa Village.

During the camping, more than 70 abandoned vehicles were detected.

Legal actions have been taken against the erring vehicles and they are being towed to the vehicles' detention facility.
