Citigroup Morocco Celebrates 50th Anniversary in Casablanca

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Rabat – The American multinational investment banking company celebrated recently its 50th year in at the Hayatt Regency hotel in Casablanca.
The ceremony was marked by the attendance of the group's clients and executives and including, Jim Cowles, Citi's CEO in Europe, Middle East, and Africa, Atiq Rehman, Citi's CEO for the Middle East and Africa Region, Ramz Hamzaoui, North Africa Cluster Head, and Taoufik Rabbaa, Citi's Country Officer for Morocco.
"The group's 50th anniversary marks our longstanding commitment to the country. At Citi, we see Morocco and Africa as important growth areas," said Cowles.
He added that the group aims to continue working with its clients in Morocco to help them expand and achieve their goals in the region in the years to come.
Present in Morocco since 1967, the group serves multinationals and global investor clients who are active in the Moroccan market, added the statement.
"The 50-year anniversary is a testament to our continued commitment to serve our clients by offering the best banking products and state of the art services," said Rebbaa. He explained that the group provides its client the access to its international network contributing to the Moroccan economy development locally and abroad.
Rebbaa noted that Morocco was one of the very first branches Citi opened in the Middle East and Africa region. "This important milestone reflects the importance of the Market for Citi," explained Rebbaa.
The statement added that the group has been an "active player" in the local Moroccan community,working to support financial literacy, education, and microfinance, as well as community development.The group has extended more than USD 500,000 in grants in the past year to local NGOs, including Enactus, Education for Employment and Injaz Al-Maghrib.
