Jordan- Italian star tenor Andrea Bocelli visits Baptism Site


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Sept. 18 (Petra) -- Italian star tenor Andrea Bocelli on Monday visited Jesus Christ's Baptism Site along the Jordan River in the Jordan Valley. Bocelli, 58, said he was happy to visit the Baptism Site and voiced hope that peace prevails in the region.

Minister of Tourism Lina Ennab, who accompanied the world's renowned star tenor, said the visit sends positive messages to the whole world about the stability and security Jordan enjoys.

The Baptism Site, otherwise known as Bethany Beyond the Jordan, is one of Jordan's most important Christian pilgrimage sites and was named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015.

Bocelli will be performing some of the most renowned operatic arias and his most popular hits tonight at the Oval Forum in Jerash in a concert organized by the Friends of Jordan Festivals and accompanied by an orchestra, and Jordanian opera singer Dima Bawab.

When asked about his performance in Jerash, Bocelli said: "I'm looking forward to be surrounded by its magical atmosphere, and I'm sure that singing there will be an unforgettable experience." AA
