Kuwait- Bid to counter radicals


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Sept 13: The director of the Moderation Center at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Abdullah Al-Sharikah said the ministry has formed a committee to monitor those who lure others into extremism and terrorism, reports Al-Qabas daily. He added the task of the committee is to monitor the social media to counter the extremist ideology. However, he added, no such cases of intellectual extremism or participation in the terrorist activities have been spotted so far this year. 'The committee is preparing the final report on this issue and also on those who sympathize with the terrorist ideology,' Al-Sharikah said. In the meantime, he warned against the widespread of violence particularly among female teenagers.

'Jailed, abused': Nineteen-yearold, the Polish Instagram star a.k.a. King Luxy said he was arrested and physically abused inside Kuwaiti jail just because we wears a 'feminine' look, reports Al-Rai daily. 'Walking by restaurants area I was stopped by an undercover CID (Criminal Investigation Department) policeman who complained about the way I dressed and my 'feminine' face,' Luxy told a homosexuals site. One of the policemen called a police station and told 'someone' he was bringing in a third person to 'make a man of me, he added. Luxy claimed he was detained for more than two weeks even though he could be held in detention for not more than four days. He added, at the police station his head was shaved. And now he has been banned from entering Kuwait. Luxy was also arrested upon arrival at the Hamad International Airport in Doha on June 27, 2016 and jailed for 2 months for the same reason.

Liquor factory busted: Three Asian expatriates were arrested from a house in Al-Zour area where they were running a factory for manufacturing liquor, reports Al-Nahar daily. According to security sources, when Ahmadi Security Directorate received information about a factory of locally manufactured liquor in Al-Zour area, a team was formed for investigations. After verifying the tip-off and taking necessary measures, the house was raided after which securitymen arrested three Asian expatriates and confiscated huge quantity of liquor along with barrels and brewery equipment.

Man doing drugs: A Kuwaiti citizen was arrested in Hawally area for consuming and possessing drugs, reports Al-Shahed daily. He was driving down a road in Hawally when he attracted the attention of a patrol team, as he was in a disoriented state. When securitymen searched him, they found hashish in his possession.
