Egypt- Honda, Seat will not participate in Automech Formula 2017

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) A source in the marketing department of Al Futtaim, Japanese Honda's agent in the local market, said that the company will not participate in the Automech Formula 2017. He also said that the company will not be launching new models this year and will only have its main models on sale, including the new Civic, City, and the recently launched model in Egypt, the CR-V.

He explained that the sales of CR-V have already started in the local market. It was the first car launched as an SUV in a while. The CR-V was launched in Egypt with 1500cc engine, with four cylinders, 190hp, 244 Nm torque, and an engine operating with direct injection.

A source from Kayan, Seat's agent in Egypt, said that the company will not be taking part in the Automech Formula exhibition due to its inconvenient timing and the unavailability of cars at the moment, where the company is expecting to receive its new cars in October.

He explained that the company does not have enough cars for campaigns and publicity as well as entering the exhibition, stressing that a model like the Leon is not available at all currently. However, it is expected to be available in October or November, according to the company. The same goes for the Ibiza.

The source added that the new models include what the company offered over the past period, such as the Leon, the Ibiza, and the Ateca. They were not officially launched in Egypt because the number of these cars in Egypt is low due to the high demand on them in the global market. However, the Seat promised the company in Egypt that it will provide a larger number of these cars starting from January 2018. The source said that the car is sometimes made available for display for the public in order to receive their feedback, which came as positive and encouraging.

The new Arona model will be available in the local market in Egypt starting from the second half of 2018. The current Toledo model is the new model the company will continue to launch over the upcoming period. The prices of cars are expected to remain the same during this year with a stability in the price of the foreign currency, according to the source.
