Pakistan- NEPRA slashes electricity tariff by Rs. 1.70 per unit
ISLAMABAD, 23 August: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Wednesday slashed electricity tariff by Rs1.70 per unit for July 2017 in order to adjust for cheaper fuel prices in the international market.
According to NEPRA, the power tariffs have been revised due to fuel adjustments under the month of July. The cost of energy production for the month of July was Rs. 4.78 per unit while the consumers had to pay Rs. 6.49 per unit in the electricity bills for June. The reduction in actual generation cost was mainly because of a dip in global oil prices and better energy mix.
The new rates will not be applicable to the consumers of K-Electric (KE).
