(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY Aug 17: Qatar Shipping Company announced the beginning of direct shipping between Doha and Kuwait, saying the new service will be a weekly affair between Hamad Port in Qatar and Shuwaikh Port in Kuwait, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The company, through Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Abdul-Rahman Essa Al-Mana'e, declared the ships will carry 515 regular containers and 50 chiller containers for the one-day shipping journey. He noted the new service is necessary for transportation of perishable goods and foodstuffs to and fro Qatar.
Al-Mana'e added the service stands for urgent and ideal solution to economy in enhancing the activities of local exporters who wish to transact businesses locally and regionally.
The company currently plies its trade from Doha to Sahhar and Salalah seaports in Oman, as well as Nhava Sheva, Mundra and Kandla in India.
