Arab Parliament Chief offers support to Iraq in combating terrorism
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, Aug 14 (KUNA) -- The President of Arab Parliament Mishaal Bin Fahad Al-Salmi said on Monday that during a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi, he offered the parliament support to Iraq and its fight against terrorism.
In a statement by the Iraqi government, Al-Salmi was quoted as saying during the meeting "the parliament support Iraq in restoring stability and security to all of its territories," congratulating the premier on the liberation of the city of Mosul from the so-called Islamic State (IS).
According to the statement, the two sides also discussed developments in the region, and the importance of uniting efforts to combat IS and its root cause.
Earlier, Al-Salmi arrived in Baghdad for a visit where was due to meet a number of Iraqi senior officials, including Iraq's Parliament Speaker Salim Al-Jabouri. (end) ahh.mb
