Buffett to donate USD3.17bln to Gates Foundation, four others


(MENAFN) Warren Buffett announced he donated around USD3.17bln of Berkshire Hathaway Inc stock to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and four family charities, as it is considered the largest contribution in more than a decade.

Buffett's annual donation to the five charities is comprised 18.63 million Class 'B' shares of Berkshire which is valued at USD170.25 each as of Monday's market close.

However, Berkshire said Buffett had made USD27.54bln in donations since 2006 to the five charities which include USD21.9bln to the Gates Foundation.

On the other hand, the Gates Foundation is receiving about USD2.42bln of Monday's donations.
