Pakistan- Power outages trigger protests in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR, 09 July: The residents of Peshawar, Mardan and Nowshera districts took to streets on Sunday to protest what they called unscheduled and prolonged power outages.
In Mardan, the protest demonstration was led by PPP local leader Khwaja Muhammad Khan Hoti. The protesters burn tyres and blocked main road at Pakistan Chowk, the busy trade center of the city, for some time.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Khan Hoti said that PML-N government failed to overcome electricity shortage in the country despite four years of ruling. He warned to take over control of Wapda House if government failed to address the load-shedding issue in Mardan. He also criticized PTI Chief Imran Khan for failure to resolve load-shedding issue and alleged that Imran is interested in Punjab rather than resolving the problems of Pashtuns.
Meanwhile, protest demonstrations were also held in Badrashi area of Nowshera district and Gulberg area of Peshawar against frequent and prolonged power outages.
