Kuwait- Arab League welcomes liberation of Libya's Benghazi
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, July 9 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abul Gheit welcomed Sunday the Libyan national army's liberation of the city of Benghazi from the grip of terrorists and extremists.
"This is an important development in the war against terrorism in Libya, which witnessed the liberation of city of Sirt from so-called Islamic State (IS)," Abul Gheit said in a statement.
He also noted the military and security operations against terrorist groups in southern Libya.
Abul Gheit called for resumption of political negotiations in order to complete implementation of the Libyan political agreement, signed in Skheirat, Morocco. (end) mfm.bs
