Indian govt's top economic adviser to attend Sri Lanka Economic Summit


(MENAFN- NewsIn.Asia) Colombo, July 5 (newsin.asia) - Chief Economic Adviser of the Indian government, Dr. Arvind Subramanian will attend a key Economic Summit in Sri Lanka this month which is hosted to discuss strengthening the island's economy a statement by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce said Wednesday.

Subramanian, a Dennis Weatherstone Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics and Senior Fellow at the Centre for Global Development will speak at the inaugural session of the Summit, which will be held July 25 and 26.

According to the statement, Subramanium was named as one of the world's top 100 global thinkers in 2011 by the Foreign Policy magazine and has served as the assistant director in the Research Department of the International Monetary Fund.

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, which is Sri Lanka's largest business community said over 40 top resource persons, such as sectoral experts, industry practitioners, government officials and ministers will take part in the two-day ‘Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2017' to share insights, make recommendations and discuss policy to drive forward Sri Lanka's economy.

The event is supported by some of the leading corporate firms in Sri Lanka.
