Oman- Air Arabia to launch Sohar flights on July 9

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Air Arabia has announced that starting July 9 Sohar will become its third destination in Oman after Muscat and Salalah.

The new route complements Air Arabia's existing flights to Muscat and Salalah, boosts travel and trade opportunities between Oman and the UAE, and provides hassle-free travel options to the residents of Sohar, the airline said in a statement.

The flight will operate three times a week, on Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays, departing Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) at 8am, and arriving at Sohar International Airport (OHS) at 8.40am. The return flight will depart from Sohar at 9.20am, landing in Sharjah at 10am.

'Announcing the third destination to Oman is a testament to our strong commitment to facilitate passenger travel between Oman and the UAE,' said Adel al Ali, group chief executive officer of Air Arabia. 'We are proud to be one of the first international carriers to operate from Sohar International Airport, and look forward to extending our offerings to passengers flying with us between both cities and across our expansive route network.'

Oman's low-cost carrier SalamAir started its service on the Salalah and Sohar sector on June 28. It is operating three flights a week between the two destinations.

Flights are operating on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and the expected flight time is 1 hour 50 minutes.

Sohar is an ancient city having historical and religious significance. The strategic location of the Sohar Port, which lies at the heart of global trade routes between Europe and Asia, has made the city significantly important to the economy, and a hub for industrial activities.
