Doha and Ankara sign Twin Cities agreement

DOHA: Minister of Municipality and Environment H E Mohamed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi said yesterday that Doha and Ankara had signed a Twin Cities agreement.

The deal was inked at Turkish capital Ankara";s municipality building and aims at exchanging expertise between them.

The signing ceremony was attended by Qatari Ambassador to Turkey Salem bin Mubarak Al-Shafi.

Speaking to the press after the signing of the agreement, Al Rumaihi said Doha had turned into an advanced smart city with the latest technological enhancements.

With the government support, Doha would become one of the most important capitals in the world in the field of construction and services, he added.

The Ankara Municipality organised a tour for the Minister and his delegation, who visited the Haci Byram project in the centre of the capital and Ankapark which is under construction and considered one of the biggest theme parks in Turkey.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gokcek stressed the importance of Qatari-Turkish relationship in different fields and said the signing of the agreement would strengthen relations between both countries. It would also enhance exchange of information and expertise between both sides, he added.
