This initiative was carried out in partnership with other institutions from both public and private sectors in the sultanate which included MEC, Ahbar Echno, Akkasa Production, Cisco, Edutech, Innotech, Samara United, Kudos, Injaz Oman and Oman Arab Bank to name a few. The initiative ran for 30 days from July 10 to August 18 with 41 children in the age group of 11 to 14 years participating. It was aimed to uncover the innovative skills of children, enhance their awareness, and expand their knowledge and involvement specifically in the field of Information Technology.

This included open source programmes, designing mobile apps and websites. The initiative also intends to introduce children to the option of becoming future entrepreneurs and encourage them to convert their IT knowledge and imagination in to real services and visible products.

The programme included varied activities like project development, enhancing soft skills, workshops and display of innovated projects. Hassan Fida al Lawati, in charge director general of Digital Society Development Division, said. 'We believe that Information Technology is not specific for a certain group of people and that our children are the future, that is why we came up with this initiative. We aim to increase the kids' awareness of IT, security, entrepreneurship and innovation and we hope that the initiative was helpful and added value to these kids.'

'MEC always seeks to serve the community and help improve it. This was the reason why we were more than happy to host this initiative. We worked hard to make this event a huge success and to guarantee the best experience for the kids,' said Al Hussain al Musawi, HoD of External Relations Office at MEC.
