Morocco- Record 130 Million People Depend on Aid to Survive: UN

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) A record 130 million people are dependent on humanitarian assistance to survive, the UN Secretary-General said on World Humanitarian Day (WHD).

The figures are 'staggering' yet they only tell part of the story, Ban Ki-moon noted.

Hidden behind the statistics are individuals, families and communities whose lives have been devastated, he said.

Every day, men, women and children affected by crises or disasters face impossible choices, the UN Chief said on Friday.

'On this World Humanitarian Day I ask you to remind leaders to keep their promise. Prevent and end conflicts. Uphold global norms. Invest in humanity. Move from delivering aid to ending need. And leave no one behind. Let us recognize we are 'One Humanity' with a shared responsibility,' the UN chief said.
