Newborn found dead on doorstep of Sharjah house

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) No end to reports of newborn babies abandoned and left to die in Sharjah.

Yet another lifeless body of an infant was found on the doorstep of a house in Al Qadisiyah area in Sharjah on Thursday.

Sharjah Police on Saturday said the body wrapped in a blanket was found by a passerby who was going to mosque.

A police team comprising forensic experts, patrol and ambulance rushed to the site and shifted the body to the forensic laboratory.

The police collected evidence and launched an investigation to find the parents of the baby and cause of death.

A similar case was reported from the same area last month. A man found a baby on the doorstep of a home and reported to the police.

Also in July, the Sharjah Police rescued a two-day-old baby who was exposed to extreme heat on the terrace of a building in the Ramallah area after receiving a call from a neighbour.

However, the police managed to identify and arrest the mother of the baby on August 3.

During police interrogation, the mother said she got pregnant while she was in the Philippines, but came to know only after reaching Dubai.

She admitted to the police she tried to get rid of him as he was an illegal baby.
