Morocco Joins 'Apostille' Convention on Foreign Public Documents
(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Morocco joins the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents (the Apostille Convention). The Adherence, which enters into force as of August 14, 2016, takes place under the High instructions of HM King Mohammed VI, to simplify administrative procedures for Moroccans living abroad, said Saturday a joint statement by the Ministries of Interior and Justice and Freedom. This Convention aims to simplify the legalization procedure of documents issued by the national authorities and are meant to be presented to their foreign counterparts through the adoption of a single procedure consisting of the issuance of a certificate called 'Apostille', attached to the document that needs legalization. It is worth to mention that the current procedure requires citizens to complete several procedures in various legalization services before referring to embassies and consulates of foreign countries accredited in Morocco.
