Amman, Aug. 10 (Petra) -- The cabinet, on Wednesday, discussed the outcome of an Egyptian ministerial team's visit to Jordan on Tuesday, which was designed to follow up on talks Prime Minister Hani al-Mulki held with his Egyptian counterpart, Sharif Ismail on the sidelines of an Arab summit held in Mauritania last month.
During a cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Hani al-Mulki expressed appreciation of his Egyptian counterpart's prompt response to the issues that were discussed between them, and sending a ministerial team to resolve these issues, some of which date back to 2002.
The prime minister spoke about the importance of Jordanian-Egyptian relations, praising the positive atmosphere that prevailed during the two sides meetings.
Both sides reached an agreement regarding standing issues that include facilitating the export process to the Egyptian market, exporting phosphate produced by Jordan and Egypt to international markets, adopting the Jordanian quality certificate for products and institutionalizing the registration process of Jordanian medicines in the Egyptian market.
They also agreed on a 50-percent discount on transit fees for Jordanian ships and vessels that cross the Suez canal to the Aqaba port. This discount rate could be raised in the future.
The premier approved a decision to exempt Egyptian workers from fines up to JD500 until end of the year.
Also, the talks tackled the importance of the Jordanian-Egyptian Higher Committee meetings, to be held later this month in Cairo, to promote cooperation and open new prospects for cooperation in energy, environment, culture, banking, tourism and other fields.
