(MENAFN- Morocco World News) A suspect with heavy criminal record for violent crimes and drug trafficking was arrested, Sunday, for assault and battery leading to the death of a police officer, according to Marrakech police prefecture.
A statement by the National Police (DGSN) said, on Monday, that the preliminary investigation showed that a police patrol intervened to apprehend the drunk suspect (aged 33) after they were tipped off that a girl was mugged in Jamaa El Fna square by the offender who also assaulted a police officer. The police officer died upon his arrival at the emergency ward and the suspect was remanded in custody to complete the investigation led by the judiciary police, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office.
