(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TEHRAN, July 31 (KUNA) -- Iran reiterated support of a political solution backed by the Syrian government and people to end the crisis in the country, official media reported Sunday.
The Islamic Republic backs peace plan winning support of Syrian government, people, and political parties, Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari said while meeting with visiting UN special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, according to Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
Ansari said that his country's strategic approach, since early stages of the Syrian crisis, focused on political means to end the tragic events.
Some "influential parties" involved the Syrian crisis seek now to achieve their goals through political solutions after failing to attain them through military confrontations, he noted.
Meanwhile, the two officials called for continued exchange of views to help resolve Syrian crisis through political means. (end) fz.ma
