No one more qualified than Clinton to be President: Obama
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Washington, July 25 (Petra) -- US President Barack Obama said that Hillary Clinton is the most qualified candidate for president in history, but "flashy" isn't part of his case for her.
"She's not always flashy. And there are better speechmakers," Obama said on CBS' "Face the Nation," in an interview airing Sunday. "But she knows her stuff. And more than anything, that is what is ultimately required to do a good job in this office." Obama, who defeated Clinton in the 2008 Democratic primary, said he has a "clear-eyed" sense of Clinton's strengths and weaknesses.
"What I would say would be that this is somebody who knows as much about domestic and foreign policy as anybody, is tough as nails, is motivated by what's best for America and ordinary people, understands that in this democracy that we have things don't always happen as fast as we'd like," he said.
More than 50,000 visitors are expected to descend upon Philadelphia for the 2016 Democratic National Convention, which begins Monday and goes through Thursday. Hillary Clinton will accept her party's nomination for president at the culmination of the four-day event.
