Palestinian President Renews Support for French Peace Initiative


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Ramallah, July 09 (QNA) -Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has renewed his support for the French peace initiative.
During a meeting here on Saturday with French envoy for the peace process Pierre Vimont, Abbas praised efforts of French President Francois Hollande aimed at creating a clear Political horizon in this regard, the Palestinian news agency (WAFA) reported.
Abbas affirmed the official stance of Palestine rejecting the recent report of the Quartet committee as it failed to mention some international references.
He further stressed the need to end the Israeli occupation based on 1967 borders and establish an independent state of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital.
For his part, the French envoy reviewed his country''s efforts to hold an international peace conference by the end of this year and the points discussed with the countries which attended the Paris meeting on June 3.(QNA)
