French Company Engie Seeks to Build Energy Projects in Morocco


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) ;">Rabat - Engie, a French electric utility company, focuses on renewable energy in North Africa. In collaboration with Moroccan Nereva Holding, 5 GW and 6 GW power generation projects will be initiated in Morocco.

The company has previously installed some renewable energy projects in the Southwest part of Morocco. Though it is the largest wind Farm in Africa, it was finished in 2014 and advances in technology have led to significant improvements for future projects.

The new installations may help Morocco reach their renewable energy goals by 2020. By that time, government officials plan to make 43 percent of Morocco''s energy renewable.

Isabelle Kocher, the CEO of Engie, said, “strong partnerships are at the heart of Engie’s strategy in Africa.'' They hope to extend the partnership to companies in Egypt, the Ivory Coast, Senegal, Ghana and Cameroon betweeen 2020 and 2025.
