Soldier killed in PKK fire in Turkey's southeast


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) >One gendarmerie specialized sergeant was killed and two others were wounded in a clash between the security forces and the outlawedKurdistan Workers’ Party(PKK) militants in the Dalca district of the southeastern Hakkari province early on May 14.

hsan Mert was killed when thePKKmilitants opened fire around 7.15 a.m., while the wounded soldiers were taken to the hospital.

Reinforcements and helicopters were sent to the scene of the incident.

A security operation was launched in Dalca with aerial support on May 14. Two militants were killed in the operations, according to the Turkish General Staff.

Mert’s funeral will be held in the southern district of Hatay on May 15.
