Indian President greets Pakistani counterpart on Pakistan Day

ISLAMABAD: Indian President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday greeted his Pakistani counterpart Mamnoon Hussain on Pakistan Day.

Mukherjee who visited Pakistan last when he was foreign minister with the Congress government wrote “India remains committed to peaceful friendly and cooperative relations with Pakistan.

“I am of the firm conviction that our cooperation will lead to progress and prosperity in our region. I take this opportunity to extend my best wishes for your good health and wellbeing” the letter added.

Meanwhile in an unrelated move former union minister Shashi Tharoor speaking during a panel discussion empasised on the need for free trade between the two neighbours which he said will eventually help contain terror attacks by the likes of LeT on India.
