'Zayed's Dream' musical performance in Abu Dhabi today

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Inspired by the nearly completed Louvre Abu Dhabi museum on Saadiyat Island, Faisal Al Saari will share for the first time tonight Zayed's Dream, his latest musical composition. He will join Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, performing for the first time in UAE, led by celebrated conductor Christoph Eschenbach, for a special concert dedicated to the much talked about museum and the French-Emirati cultural dialogues.

"I was commissioned to compose this piece especially for this concert," Faisal told Khaleej Times. "I call it Zayed's Dream because I believe such cultural achievement such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi would have been Shaikh Zayed's dream. If he were with us today, he would had been so happy to see the world's most iconic museum here, in Abu Dhabi."

Faisal, one of the very few Emirati professional classical music composers, began practising and learning classical Arabic music in 1986, in Dubai. Back then, music was just a hobby, but the passion grew and Faisal grew with it.

"For the Louvre museum, I will perform an oud concerto in three parts," said Faisal. "Louvre is a French museum, but it is now coming here, mixing with our society, getting a new identity. The composition will reflect all that, the East and the West coming together."

Following Zayed's Dream performance, there will be another world premiere from one of the greatest contemporary French composers, Bruno Mantovani.

Organised by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, the concert is taking place at Manarat Al Saadiyat.
