UAE values Oman s measures to uphold human rights

Geneva 18th March 2016 (WAM) - The United Arab Emirates has welcomed the importance that Oman attaches to human rights and commended the country for adopting measures to protect the dignity of individuals and ensure the principle of equal opportunities.
''The UAE also welcomed Oman's efforts in the field of justice and rule of law as well as Promotion of culture to protect fundamental human rights and freedoms'' Obaid Salem Al Zaabi Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva said in an address before the Human Rights Council's session during which it adopted outcomes of Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Oman.
Al Zaabi congratulated Abdulla Nasser Al Rahbi Permanent Representative of Oman to the United Nations Office at Geneva for the valuable presentation before the council which underscored Oman's commitment to upholding human rights. He also valued the commitments accepted by Oman to enhance social justice promote the rule of good governance and building the state of law and institutions.
The UAE he said appreciated Oman's political will for implementing recommendations it accepted during the UPR and called on Oman to continue its work towards promotion of human rights in line with international principles.
