Amman: Jordan is preparing to welcome the cream of the region’s motor sporting community when it hosts its world-famous Jordan Rally from May 5-7.

Featuring the region’s top drivers the 2016 Jordan Rally is set to become one of the most thrilling events in a history which stretches back more than three decades.

The 34th edition’s importance goes beyond just being a sporting event it will be used as a marketing tool to tell the region that Jordan is open for business and continues to be a rock of social and political stability.

“The Jordan Rally is the local motor sporting community’s opportunity to showcase that despite what may be happening around us the country continues to be a safe and secure place to visit” explained Othman Nassif CEO of Jordan Motorsport.

“Each year we try to add a new flavour and this year will be no different with a few surprises to ensure it remains as one of the Middle East’s leading motor sporting events.”

With images from the rally expected to be beamed into millions of homes across the region work is ongoing to ensure that stages in and around the Jordan Valley show off the stunning scenery surrounding world famous tourism spots like Mount Nebo the Dead Sea and the Baptism Site.

Held under the patronage of HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein the Chairman of the organisers Jordan Motorsport the event is the third round of the Middle East Rally Championship which got underway in Qatar last month.

It will continue on to Kuwait before all roads lead to Jordan in May.

The supplementary regulations have been completed by the organising team and while it is too early to say who will be entering we can expect the best in the region to be taking on the leading Jordanian speedsters over a weekend to remember.

Should reigning champion Nasser Al Attiyah the rally legend from Qatar confirm his entry he will be looking to secure his 10th title in the prestigious race.
