Kuwait- Erekat condemns shutting down of Palestine Today TV
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RAMALLAH March 11 (KUNA) -- Chief negotiator of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Saeb Erekat condemned the shutting down of "Palestine Today TV" in the West Bank by the Israeli forces and the arrest of three of its staff including its director.
Erekat told the press Friday that the continuous Israeli violations of arrests ethnic cleansing land confiscations siege and collective punishment will not make Israel "commit" nor "abide" to international laws.
He reiterated his call to international community to move and make "serious actions" to hold the Israelis accountable for their dire violations to human rights.
Earlier today Israeli army barged into Palestine Today TV headquarters arresting three of its staff including its director shutting down the station over "allegations of inciting violence." Dozens of soldiers also invaded the TV's headquarters in the Tahouna area in al-Biereh after completely surrounding the area and confiscated broadcast equipment. They stormed and searched the home of its director Farouq Oleyyat in Birzeit City.
Two nights ago the Israeli Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a meeting and came up with a list of punitive measures against the Palestinian people and various media agencies. The cabinet decided to shut down many TV stations and media agencies for what it called "broadcasting incitement materials." (Pick up previous) nq.nfm
