Qatar- Security Council Votes Today to Expand N Korea Sanctions

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) New York March 01 (QNA) - The United Nations Security Council plans to vote Tuesday on a resolution to significantly widened the scope of existing UN sanctions on North Korea in response to its nuclear test on January 6 the US Mission to the United Nations has said.The vote is expected at 3 p.m. (2000 GMT) today.

Last week the US presented to the 15-nation council a draft resolution it negotiated with China that would significantly tighten restrictions after North Korea's nuclear test and rocket launch and create what it described as the toughest UN sanctions regime in two decades a Reuters report said today.
