Qatar Confirms Commitment to Outer Space Exploration

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Vienna February 22 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has confirmed its commitment to the exploration of outer space and its use for peaceful purposes noting that it has effectively started in intensive work to integrate space sciences and technology in the national development plans and made efforts to achieve the highest levels cooperation on regional and international levels to facilitate the optimum use of space sciences and technologies.
This came in the speech of the state of Qatar delivered by HE the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Austria and its Delegate to the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) Ali Khalfan Al-Mansouri during a meeting of the sub-committee of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS).
The State of Qatar confirmed that its joining of COPUOS came in appreciation for the pioneering role played by the committee in its capacity as the sole forum on the international level for international cooperation in the field of international activities for peaceful uses of outer space.
He added that the State of Qatar worked intensively to integrate space sciences and technology in the national development programmes including Qatar National Vision 2030 and upcoming plans and also made effort to realize the highest levels of regional and international cooperation to facilitate the optimum use of space sciences and technologies.(QNA)
