Lebanon seeks to fix ties with Saudi Arabia
BEIRUT: The Lebanese government said onMonday it was necessary to fix ties with Saudi Arabia afterRiyadh last week suspended a $3 billion aid package to theLebanese army and tasked Prime Minister Tammam Salam withmaking contacts to that end.
Saudi Arabia suspended the aid in response to Beirut'sfailure to condemn attacks on Saudi diplomatic missions in Iran.
Salam speaking in a televised news conference said thecabinet statement had been passed unanimously. In response to aquestion on the attacks last month he said "we stronglycondemn" the attack on the Saudi embassy.
"The cabinet deems it necessary to fix relations betweenLebanon and its brothers and to remove any flaws that may haveemerged in recent times" the statement said.
