Oman seeks trade programs with Iran


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TEHRAN Feb 21 (KUNA) -- Oman's visiting Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawi said on Sunday his country would seek to reactivate its economic trade and investment programs with Iran on the basis of mutual interest.Speaking to reporters the Omani minister said he had detailed talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on strategic progress of trade and investment ties on the basis of mutual interest calling for putting bilateral cooperative programs in place in the near future.On a transport corridor linking Oman Iran Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan he said it needs some technical reforms and there should be more talks between those countries on transit and customs.The corridor will help the Islamic countries benefit from the Iranian and Omani ports he said.He hoped that concerned ministers and experts from those countries would come together soon in Muscat to discuss relevant details.The Omani minister stressed the importance of expansion of relations with Tehran at Iranian port of Chabahar and the Omani ports.The Omani minister arrived in Tehran on Saturday for a two-day official visit to Iran.
