(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) The Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan decided to split from the main group in Egypt as reported by Brotherhood affiliated newspaper Al-Sabeel and other local media in Jordan.
Anonymous sources told Al-Sabeel the decision was made in context of recent amendments agreed upon by the Shoura council of the Jordanian Brotherhood.
Article 1 of their internal law stated that, "the group is a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood group founded by Hassan Al-Banna in Egypt". According to reports, this line was removed from the internal law in the recent amendment.
The Brotherhood group in Jordan released a statement after the council meeting that they agreed unanimously on all presented amendments to the internal law of the group. However the statement did not mention disengagement from the Brotherhood in Egypt
The Brotherhood in Jordan is facing existential disputes as more members continue to defect from the Islamic Action Front (IAF), the political arm of the group, following the mass resignation in January, which included senior founding members.
The group is living through a crisis in Jordan in the wake of the Arab Spring after local and regional upset especially after their fall in Egypt in 2013.
