Turkey- Syrian army gets closer to Turkish borders advancing on 2 fronts


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) TheSyrian army has made fresh progress in the northern provinces of Latakia and Aleppo getting closer to the Turkish borders a source and pan-Arab al-Mayadeen TV reported on Monday.

In Aleppo the Syrian army captured the strategic town of Kafin on Monday becoming five km from the strategic town of Tal Rifat also the gate toward the city of Azaz a main rebel stronghold on the Syrian-Turkish borders according to al-Mayadeen.

The capture of Kafin is the latest in a series of sweeping advance the Syrian army has been achieving with the help of theRussian air cover and the fighters of the Lebanese Hezbollah group in Aleppo and Latakia.

In the northern countryside of Latakia a military source told Xinhua on Monday that the Syrian army is moving toward the town of Kansabbah one of the last important rebel stronghold in northern Latakia near Turkey.

The military units on Monday captured the towns of Hur Rwaisat Swaidiyeh and al-Wadi al-Azraq few of the towns remaining in Latakia countryside.

When taking Kansabah "We can say that the entire province of Latakia is under the army control" the source said on condition of anonymity.

The aim of the military campaign in Latakia and Aleppo is to start closing the border with Turkey from where most of foreign jihadists are infiltrating into Syria.
