Morocco- Moroccan Government to Invest Record MAD 189 Billion in 2016


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) The Moroccan government has allocated a record 189 billion dirhams for investment in 2016 Government Head Abdelilah Benkirane said on Tuesday.

Despite the unfavorable economic context the Moroccan government has raised the annual investment budget from 180 billion dirhams in 2015 to 189 this year Benkirane said at the House of Representatives' monthly government policy meeting.

He noted that foreign direct investments (FDIs) in Morocco recorded a 15 pc increase yearly between 2010 and 2015 moving from 13.3 billion dirhams to 31.1 billion dirhams.

Morocco attracted 31 pc of FDIs in North Africa in 2014 compared to only 12 pc in 2010 he added.

He also outlined the various measures taken by Morocco to improve the business climate and enhance the competitiveness of businesses at different levels.
