The awards were handed over to the three referees - who featured at the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup final in Auckland New Zealand - by Saoud Mohannadi the chairman of the AFC competitions committee in Doha Qatar.

The ceremony was held at the referees' preparation course ahead of the AFC U23 Championship which began on Tuesday. AFC president Sheikh Salman al Khalifa said 'Asian refereeing is world-class as constantly proven by the international performances of our top referees like Abu Bakar Fahad and Abdullah. This prestigious award is the AFC's way to thank these top referees for their contribution to Asian football.'

Mirdasi was the referee while Shalwai and Amri who are both AFC assistant referees oversaw the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup final where Serbia defeated Brazil 2-1 in extra-time.

Amri along with referee Ahmed al Kaf from Oman will officiate at the AFC U23 Championship in Qatar.
