Iraq parliament speaker urges release of Qatari hostages

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD Dec 26 (KUNA) -- Speaker of the Iraqi House of Representatives Dr. Saleem Al-Jubouri urged the Iraqi security services to double efforts to free a group of Qatari hunters who were kidnapped in southern Iraq some 10 days ago."The continued captivity of the Qatari hunters represents a crime against the stature of the state and a challenge to the law-enforcement authority" he said in a press release on Saturday.Al-Jubouri denounced the crime as an infringement on the sovereignty of Iraq and on its relations with sisterly countries.He stressed the need of the Iraqi security services making their utmost to release the kidnapped hunters and bring the captors to justice.Unknown gunmen kidnaped 26 Qatari hunters in Al-Muthana Governorate south Iraq in mid-December.
