Al Jazira began life after Abel Braga with a dominant victory over Emirates in the Arabian Gulf League on Saturday night.

Frontman Ali Mabkhout fired a brace while Thiago Neves and Sultan Al Shamsi scored one each as the Pride of Abu Dhabi under caretaker coach Ali Khamis Al Junaibi ran out 4-0 victors at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

This was only their fourth win in 12 games and 'The Spiders' now move to 14 points. The loss left Emirates on 13 points.

Meanwhile in Fujairah Al Wasl blanked 10-man Dibba 3-0 to bring the latter's unbeaten run to an end.

Al Jazira shook off their poor form under Brazilian coach Braga and began brightly conjuring up a couple of opportunities both through Ali Mabkhout. But Emirates goalkeeper Ahmad Alshaji managed to deny the ace Emirati striker on both occasions.

But they were only to be kept at bay for 38 minutes after which Thiago Neves broke the stalemate. Salim Ali fired a long ball in and Neves chested it after which the Brazilian midfielder sent a screamer past Ahmad Alshaji.

Salim Ali could have doubled the lead moments later but the youngster headed it wide of the far post following a deflected freekick.

The second goal though duly arrived four minutes after the break through Ali Mabkhout whose low volley from the edge of the box bounced in front of Ahmad Alshaji before settling into the bottom corner of the net.

Substitute Sultan Al Shamsi who had come on for Ahmed Rabia Al Ghilani on the hour then made it 3-0 on 71 minutes with a fine solo effort curling a long ranger into the far corner of the net.

Ali Mabkhout then rounded it off with the fourth and his double by latching onto one from the byline before slotting it home in stoppage time.

Meanwhile Caio Canedo Yaser Salem and Fabio de Lima were on target for Al Wasl. The win moved 'The Cheetahs' to 21 points while Dibba remain on 14 points.

Al Wasl had two good chances in the first half but Canedo and Lima drilled it wide of the post while Dibba came close through Boris Kabi whose pile driver hit the woodwork.

Al Wasl took the lead after the restart through Canedo on 53 minutes and things got even worse for Dibba after Ahmed Murad was sent off for a second booking.

Yaser Salem doubled the lead with a long ranger on 74 minutes after which Fabio de Lima scored the third two minutes from time.
