2 more slain as Israel uses excessive force
(MENAFN- Arab News) JERUSALEM: A Palestinian stabbed and wounded an Israeli soldier and a civilian in Hebron in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday before being shot dead the Israeli army and police said.
Israeli police said one of the victims was lightly injured and the other was moderately wounded.
The stabbed civilian is the son of former Israeli lawmaker Orit Struck of the religious and nationalist Jewish Home party the politician told Israeli radio. She said her son was lightly wounded when he lunged at the assailant after the soldier was stabbed.
Palestinian security sources identified the attacker as Abed Al-Rahman Maswada 21. He was said to be the cousin of another Palestinian attacker shot dead in Hebron on Monday after stabbing an Israeli.
Separately in the northern West Bank town of Tubas on Wednesday clashes erupted during an Israeli military raid.
Three Palestinians were wounded by gunfire while tear gas was also used Palestinian police and witnesses said. The person arrested was identified as Iyad Muslamani a member of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
The disparity in the number killed on each side and the fact more than 13500 Palestinians have been injured including many in demonstrations - has led to accusations that Israel is using excessive force to quell the unrest.
