UAE Morocco team up to raise football profile

The Pro League Committee (PLC) signed a two-year memorandum of understanding with the National League of professional football in Morocco on Saturday to promote the game in both countries.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Abdullah Saeed Al Nabooda PLC vice chairman; Fouzi Lekjaa Federation Royale Marocaine de Football chairman; and Said Naciri Ligue Nationale de Football Professionnel (LNFP - Morocco) chairman and also attended by Hamad Nekhirat Al Ameri PLC member; Mohammed bin Hazzam UAE Football Association general secretary; and Suhail Al Areefi PLC CEO at the press conference hall of Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain.

The signing of the MOU signifies the desire of both parties to cooperate and support the development of football in both countries by effectively promoting strategic partnerships holding training sessions and developmental workshops for staff of both leagues and exchanging knowledge and experience for the mutual benefit of both sides. Al Nabooda welcomed the agreement and highlighted the long-standing strength of the partnership between UAE and Morocco which was built by the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and has been continued by the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and is clearly demonstrated by numerous agreements between the two countries particularly in the sporting arena.

"The Pro League Committee is pleased to sign this agreement with the National Football League of Morocco under the auspices of advancing and developing the football sector in both countries and we look forward to a mutually beneficial partnership over the next two years" Al Nabooda said.

Lekjaa expressed his delight saying: "We are happy to join together as partners and brothers. We have already succeeded in establishing the first ever UAE-Morocco Super Cup this year played between the champions of both countries' professional leagues and the signing of this agreement will only serve to strengthen our partnership."
