Saudi- The forgotten people

(MENAFN- Arab News) I read with interest the article 'Abandoning Libya is a mistake' (Dec. 2) by Linda Heard. The author has raised a very important issue. The international community has really abandoned Libya and Libyans have been left to fend for themselves after the ouster of Muammar Qaddafi. This clearly shows that the world powers did not have any clear-cut plan for the post-Qaddafi era. As a matter of fact it is not just Libya that has been left to rot; most western interventions in the region have led to disasters. The US invasion of Iraq is also an example of poor military and strategic planning. Even if we ignore the weapons of mass destruction hoax what followed the invasion raises many questions about the sincerity of the self-proclaimed liberators of Iraqis.

In the post-Saddam era the US employed the tactics of its colonial cousins divide and rule. Nowadays most of the top military planners are admitting their failure in Iraq. Coming back to Libya I agree with the writer that the international community should take concrete measures to restore normality to Libya before Daesh and its likes completely take over the country.
