GCC Tennis Chionship: Oman junior team secures victory

Oman's U16 side registered its second win in the GCC Junior Tennis Championship in Doha Qatar on Tuesday beating Kuwait 2-1 in the second round of the competition.

Also Oman's U12 team achieved its first win in the competition by beating its Bahraini counterpart 2-1 after having lost the inaugural match against Saudi Arabia.

In the third round Oman's U16 team will play Qatar while the U12 players will take on Kuwait.

Both teams have the potential to compete for advanced positions after the good performance they demonstrated in the first and second days of the championship.

Oman's U16 team comprises Younis al Rawahy and Abdullah al Barwani who have both exhibited good form on their Doha trip.

Abdullah said 'The second day's competition was very exciting we were able to win with much difficulty against the Kuwaiti team which is much more experienced and better equipped than us in terms of skills. We would like to continue to keep up the good performance in the upcoming matches. Our target is to finish on the podium.'
