Saudi- Arab S. American bond strengthened
(MENAFN- Arab News) RIYADH: The Kingdom and other Arab nations have strengthened their political social and business ties with South American countries which bodes well for the future said Vice Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Mohammed bin Naif on Monday.
Chairing a Cabinet meeting at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh he said the ministers appreciated the efforts of all participants at the fourth Summit of Arab and South American Countries held in Riyadh last week according to Majid Al-Qassabi minister of social affairs and acting minister of culture and information who spoke to journalists after the meeting.
The Cabinet lauded Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman's emphasis on ensuring consensus was reached at the gathering on a variety of international issues including the fight against terrorism promoting a culture of dialogue and the establishment of business councils said Al-Qassabi.
Prince Mohammed also briefed the Cabinet on meetings he and King Salman had with leaders of various nations at the summit; while the Cabinet ministers expressed optimism about the outcome of the gathering including the final recommendations and Riyadh Declaration issued after the event said Al-Qassabi.
The ministers also welcomed efforts being made by the Kingdom at the G-20 Summit in Turkey to seek cooperation on political challenges facing the world. They praised King Salman's call for redoubling efforts to fight terrorism.
On the local front the Cabinet welcomed the efforts of the Ministry of Interior represented by the Anti-Narcotics National Committee to carry out plans to counter attempts to smuggle drugs into the country in coordination with other security agencies.
Later the Cabinet took several decisions including that the Higher Authority for Industrial Safety supervises railways networks; and authorized the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage to hold talks with Egypt on cooperation in the area of antiquities museums and urban heritage.
The Cabinet also authorized the Council of Economic and Development Affairs to discuss a memorandum of understanding with China on trade cooperation along the Silk Road.
The Cabinet further authorized King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy to discuss a nuclear pact with Britain; and for the National Anti-corruption Commission to seek cooperation with Egypt on tackling corruption.
