UAE- Innovation is paramount for a nation's development: paper

ABU DHABI 16th November 2015 (WAM) -- A UAE paper has said that placing innovation at the top of the country's national agenda is highly commendable. While the government rightfully takes the lead in building up the narrative it has simultaneously co-opted the grassroots schools and colleges technical institutions and the private sector to play their parts. And each stakeholder has to make sure that what it puts in is made to count.

"Innovation is the sum of many parts. A directive from the highest authority in the land can set the course and create the fertile conditions where the best of talent and a unique spirit can come together" said Gulf News in an editorial on Monday.

"But innovation is not about just improving on processes or creating new ones it must become embedded in the nation's psyche and passed down through the generations.

"This is where the UAE's private sector can play a key role. It should not be a case where the government has to do all the work on fostering innovation. Businesses must be willing to find common cause to spread the word.

"When that happens the UAE will truly become an innovative society" concluded the Dubai-based daily.
